3 Horror Movies Releasing in April To Look Out For

3 horror movies to watch out for releasing in April

April is starting to take shape with some new horror releases. I have already mentioned about All You Need Is Death coming in April, as well as Caitlin Cronenberg's Humane, and here are 3 more April horror movies being released.

April is going to be a spooky month.

The First Omen

A new addition to The Omen canon is on the horizon, revisiting the 1976 Richard Donner classic that introduced the world to the iconic creepy child, Damien the Antichrist, portrayed by Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, and David Warner. While the franchise already boasts two sequels, a 2006 remake, and a cult following, this upcoming prequel promises to take us back to the origins of the story.

Set in Rome, the film follows a young American woman who embarks on a life of service to the church, only to confront a darkness that shakes her faith and exposes a sinister plot to bring forth the ultimate evil. Produced by David S. Goyer (known for 2022's Hellraiser) and Keith Levine (The Night House), and helmed by debut director Arkasha Stevenson, this film is a highly anticipated return to the occult world of the genre-defining original. First Omen releases on the 5th April in both the USA and UK.

Sting

With the release of Sting, the latest addition to the long line of creature features centered around spiders, audiences may find themselves checking underneath their cinema seats. Those who have long avoided movies like Kingdom of the Spiders (1977), Itsy Bitsy (2019), and Arachnophobia (1990) due to their fear of the eight-legged creepiest of crawlies may finally succumb to this newest iteration.

The plot summary describes it as being inspired by "one of humanity's greatest fears...made more monstrous than ever before,".  Directed by Kiah Roache-Turner (Necrotronic) and starring Penelope Mitchell (Hellboy), Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening), and Ryan Corr (House of the Dragon), Sting follows the story of Charlotte (played by Alyla Browne), whose pet spider grows to a monstrous size and begins devouring the residents of their apartment block. Sting releases on the 12th April in USA but UK viewers will have to wait until the 31st May.

Abigail

Universal Pictures presents a new horror crime story with a unique twist. When a group of criminals abducts the daughter of a powerful underworld figure, a ballerina, they seek refuge in an isolated mansion. Little do they know, they have trapped themselves inside with a pint-sized vampire, unleashing a world of toothy, fantastical bloodshed.

With the talented directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work on Ready or Not and the latest Scream films, at the helm, and starring the likes of Kathryn Newton (Freaky, Lisa Frankenstein) and Dan Stevens (The Guest), this film boasts a promising modern horror pedigree that will hopefully deliver. Abigail releases on 19th April in both the USA and UK.
