Hunter Schafer, known for her powerful portrayal of characters dealing with abuse, tragedy, and family drama in HBO's Euphoria, is set to bring her talents to NEON's upcoming horror film, Cuckoo. The film, directed by German filmmaker Tilman Singer and shot in 35mm, boasts an impressive cast including Dan Stevens, Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Martin Csokas, Greta Fernández, and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey.
The film follows 17-year-old Gretchen, played by Schafer, as she reluctantly moves to the German Alps to live with her father and his new family. Upon arriving, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father's boss, who takes a strange interest in Gretchen's mute half-sister Alma. As Gretchen begins to experience strange noises and bloody visions, she uncovers a shocking secret that involves her own family.
This is Singer's first feature in six years since his breakout horror film Luz - A poster was recently released for the movie as well and you can watch the trailer below.
NEON opens Cuckoo on August 9th in America.
