M3GAN 2.0 won't be coming releasingon January 17, 2025, anymore, as a new release date has been set. Universal pictures have pushed the movie back by five months to Friday, May 16th.
Filming is set to begin soon on the sequel, with director Gerard Johnstone, screenwriter Akela Cooper, and cast members Violet McGraw (Cady) and Allison Williams (Aunt Gemma) all returning to deliver some more AI doll mayhem.
Plot details for M3GAN 2.0 haven't been revealed yet, but we do know the AI doll M3GAN will be back, and her intense desire to protect her owner will once again lead to some chaos and murder. And don't forget, you can actually buy a life size replica of M3GAN if you want to....
In a 2023 interview, Violet McGraw had this to say about it.
I love that people are loving it. I think that it’s really funny, like I love Cady so much and I love that some people are calling her their favorite character and it makes me so grateful to be a part of such an amazing iconic film.
But it was just really amazing. I was in shock when I like heard how fast M3GAN 2.0 was coming. I’m like, ‘Oh, already? Okay.’ But I’m so excited to work with that whole crew again. But I’m so glad people loved the film so much.
M3GAN was released in 2022 and performed well at the box office, grossing $181 million on a $12 million budget. No doubt they will be hoping for more of the same for the upcoming sequel.
