Robert Eggers to Remake Nosferatu - Synopsis + Trailer
Director Robert Eggers is back with a new horror film - a remake of the 100+ year-old silent vampire classic, Nosferatu. Bill SkarsgÄrd, known for playing Pennywise, will star as the vampire Count Orlok and you can watch the trailer below.
The cast will also include Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.
The film follows a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire who becomes obsessed with her, bringing a lot of horror in its wake.
The synopsis reads:
Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.
Director Robert Eggers had this to say about the movie:
Yeah, it’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie, And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while.'And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.Lily-Rose is absolutely phenomenal and this remake of the tale is even more Ellen’s story than previous versions.
And commenting on Bill Skarsgard:
I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there,'He felt like honouring who had come before him. It’s all very subtle.
But I think the main thing is that he’s even more a folk vampire. In my opinion he looks like a dead Transylvanian nobleman, and in a way that we’ve never actually seen what an actual dead Transylvanian nobleman would look like and be dressed like.
Nosferatu is set to release on December 25th 2024 in America and 3rd January 2025 in the UK.
If you want to watch the trailer for the original movie that is over 100 years old, you can watch that below as well! [Nosferatu on IMDB]
