Stephen King Gives 'The Monkey' His Approval

The legend that is Stephen King recently took to Threads to give his seal of approval for 'The Monkey', and it is a very I am trying not to get too hyped for as I have made that mistake before, but I really can't help myself right now.

Especially after being disappointed with Neon's first effort of the year, 'Presence'.

But Stephen King had this to say on 'The Monkey'
You've never seen anything like THE MONKEY. It's bats*** insane. As someone who has indulged in bats***tery from time to time, I say that with admiration.
Stephen King has promised fans we have never seen anything like 'The Monkey' before

Osgood Perkins Speaks About Differences Beteween 'Longlegs' and 'The Monkey'

In an interview with the excellent Empire magazine, The Monkey director Osgood Perkins spoke about the differences between his last film Longlegs and his new one, and he had this to say.
I honestly feel fucking great about [how different The Monkey is from Longlegs]. I can’t think of another morbidly surreal horror comedy that’s also heartwarming and redemptive and stars a bona-fide movie hunk. That’s the best news I can offer to people who liked Longlegs — we make all kinds. Why would anyone want to be fed the same meal every day?

If you’re going for comedy then you’re going for extremes. Not subtlety. We are guilty of putting far more blood in our human bodies than is really in a human body. When someone explodes in this movie — and a couple of people do — there’s a lot of mess... All the death set-pieces were hard to do. They all have a Rube Goldbergian connectivity — this happens, then this happens, then this happens..

'The Monkey' Rated R

It has been revealed that The Monkey has  been rated “R” this week for “Strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.”

We will also have a new trailer dropping this Wednesday apparently on 8th January, which I will post on this page that hopefully will show a bit more of what to expect from the film, but hopefully not too much!

A Festive Gift from Osgood Perkins

The Monkey director Osgood Perkins posted a Christmas Day video featuring new footage and clips from the film, and if you haven't watched it yet, you can see it below.

The Monkey Trailer Released - Set for February 21st 2025 Release Date

Hot on the heels of releasing a teaser trailer for Presence and the release of Cuckoo, Neon has released another teaser trailer, this time for The Monkey, the latest film by Osgood Perkins, who previously worked with them on Longlegs.

The Monkey is based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name, and will star Theo James, with James Wan producing.

The films plot is about twin brothers Hal and Bill who find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic and after a series of brutal deaths start happening around them, the brothers decide to get rid of the monkey and go their separate ways, drifting apart over time.

When the strange deaths start up again, the brothers have to come back together to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it kills everyone they care about.

The film will also stars Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy
