Production Has Wrapped Up
After beginning production in October this year, Pinocchio: Unstrung director Rhys Frake-Waterfield has now confirmed production has finished on the upcoming film.
Robert Englund and Richard Brake Join Cast
Well, I said below that I wasn't expecting much from Pinocchio: Unstrung, but now Robert Englund and Richard Brake have joined the cast, my expectations have gone up a little bit!
You will of course, or should, know Robert Englund from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Rob Brake from Rob Zombies Halloween II and Barbarian.
The film is expected to release in the first quarter of 2025, and will also star Cameron Bell, Jessica Balmer, Jack Art Gray and Peter De Souza-Feighoney.
Todd Masters from MastersFx, who designed Chucky for the 2019 Child’s Play remake, will lead the animatronics and puppetry work, and The Prosthetics Studio, will handle the gore effects.
An image from the film has also been released!
Pinocchio: Unstrung Poster and Details Released
So another childhood characters is being turned into a horror villain, and this time is is Pinocchio, and you can view the official poster above!
From the team behind the really awful Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, and the upcoming Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, now comes Pinocchio: Unstrung.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield will be directing and filming will start in October 2024, and while I cannot say I will expecting much, I am ready to be surprised.
The story will follow young James as he learns of his grandfather Geppetto’s deadly secret: Pinocchio
The director had this to say on the movie.
The film will embrace practical effects at every opportunity, ranging from the doll itself to the title card of the film. Having a budget significantly higher than my last film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, I’m aiming to make this the definitive Pinocchio horror film and my best movie to date. Exciting cast announcements will follow shortly!
I will post more details on this one as it arrives. [Pinocchio: Unstrung on IMDB]
