Do you want to watch a horror movie based on a viral Twitter thread? Well, you're in luck, as that is what Sorop has done as as it has been inspired by a Twitter thread by popular Indonesian creator SimpleMan.
Directed by seasoned filmmaker Upi Avianto, Sorop follows siblings Hanif and Isti as they return to their hometown after their uncle falls ill, and after his death, strange events begin to unfold.
Intending to return to their childhood home, Hanif and Isti are shocked by the death of Uncle that happened right in front of them. Uncle's death apparently brought something darker to their home. Now, Hanif and Isti must uncover the mystery related to their past.
The film is set to premiere at the Asian Contents & Film Market during the Busan International Film Festival but is set to be released globally with Barunson E&A teaming up with Indonesia’s MD Pictures to distribute it.
Sorop is set to release locally in December 2024, and will hit international audiences some time in 2025. [Sorop on IMDB]
