What Is The Scariest Horror Film According To Stephen King?

Stephen King has revealed his scariest horror movie ever

If you have ever wondered what horror god Stephen King considers the best overall scariest movie ever is, well fear not, because I can tell you, as he believes that the 1968 horror film Night of the Living Dead is the scariest movie of all time.

According to King, Night of the Living Dead is still one of the most powerful horror films ever created, and King points out that the film’s mix of shocking horror and social commentary on issues like race and consumerism makes it a unique and unforgettable experience.

The film centers on a group of strangers who find themselves holed up in a farmhouse when dead people mysteriously start getting resurrected and attacking the living.

The film famously features a combination of shocking horror and smart commentary on race and capitalism, and it has long been considered a genre staple, especially among zombie horror fans.

In explaining why he finds the film so scary, he has said that while he was once terrified by other films like The Haunting as a kid and The Blair Witch Project as an adult, Night of the Living Dead holds a special place as a terrifying classic.

In the end, no one survives. This movie has lost its elemental power over the years — has become almost a Midnite Madness joke, like ‘Rocky Horror’ , but I still remember the helpless terror I felt when I first saw it.
And now that I think of it, there’s a real similarity to ‘Blair Witch,’ both with minimal or no music, both cast with unknown actors who seem barely capable of summer stock in Paducahville, both with low-tech special effects. They work not in spite of those things, but because of them.

He did say too though that time and pop culture have sucked some of the scariness out of Night Of The Living Dead, but he has indelible memories from watching it.

Stephen King often gives his opinions on horror films, including recently praising Netflix's Under Paris as pretty good, and recommended everyone give Night Swim a chance, but he saved the best praise for the brilliant Spanish horror film The Coffee Table saying that you will have never seen a film in your life as black as this one.
